If you are on Windows, you can skip straight to Windows quick install guide for a simpler setup if MOH:AA is already installed.

Before you start

The game should be able to run on any modern hardware. You can verify the System requirements.

You will need a copy of MOH:AA, either from GOG, from CD or a from a demo version

💡 GOG version is recommended.

If you already have MOH:AA from a CD, make sure to Install official patches.

Windows users

Download and install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable x64.

Linux and macOS users

If you want to install the game from GOG:

Install Innoextract (macOS users: brew install innoextract)
Run: innoextract setup_medal_of_honor_2.0.0.21.exe
Files will be extracted to a folder called app/

Alternatively, you can also use WINE, but this process may be slower/more complex if you do not already have it installed and configured.

Installation

Downloading OpenMoHAA

Go to the latest release page
Choose the correct version for your platform:

ℹ️ On Windows, -pdb archives are intended for maintainers and contributors, they contain debug information specific to this build and is used for debugging purposes, you don't need them.

Installing OpenMoHAA

Option A

Extract the archive¹ to your MOHAA installation directory.
Create a shortcut to each of the launch_openmohaa_* executable:
- launch_openmohaa_base (Base game)
- launch_openmohaa_spearhead (Spearhead)
- launch_openmohaa_breakthrough (Breakthrough)

Option B

Extract the archive¹ somewhere on your hard drive
create a shortcut to each of the launch_openmohaa_* executable:
- launch_openmohaa_base (Base game)
- launch_openmohaa_spearhead (Spearhead)
- launch_openmohaa_breakthrough (Breakthrough)
Set the shortcut's Start in directory to your MOHAA installation directory.

🟢 You're now ready to play!

Notes:

For servers, only omohaaded.*, game.*, and curl binaries from the archive are required.

Appendix

(Optional) Cleaning up the game installation directory

If you want to clean up the mohaa installation directory by keeping only what is needed for OpenMoHAA, the following files/directories can be kept:

Installing official patches (CD only)

If the MOH: Warchest copy is installed, skip directly to the OpenMoHAA installation section.

Otherwise, install the following patches:

Allied Assault	Depends on the installed language: English, German, French Italian, Spanish, or Dutch
Spearhead	2.0 to 2.11, followed by 2.11 to 2.15
Breakthrough	2.40b

These patches are required to connect to multiplayer servers and ensure a smooth, bug-free single-player experience.

MOH:AA Breakthrough multiplayer demo ships with multiplayer maps: Anzio and Palermo.

Can play on MOH:AA 1.00 servers only.
Only compatible with demo servers. These servers can be identified by having the letter d at the start of their version number (e.g: (d2.11)).
